The moment the ring slides over your finger should be perfect. No jerking, no pushing, no "it fits somehow." The good news: you don't need a ring to find the right size. A strip of paper, a ruler, and five minutes of time are enough.

In this guide, we will show you step-by-step how to determine your ring size yourself. You will also learn what matters when it comes to width, profile, and wall thickness. Because all of these factors influence how your ring will feel later on.

Measuring ring size: the paper strip method

You will need a strip of paper (approx. 5 mm wide, 10 cm long), a ruler, and a pen.

Position the strip. Wrap the paper strip around your ring finger. It should fit snugly, but still be able to be turned easily.
Mark it. Use the pen to draw a straight line where the paper overlaps.
Measure. Remove the strip and measure the marked length in millimeters.
Read the size. The measured value is your ring size. 58 mm circumference means ring size 58.

Our tip: Fingers fluctuate throughout the day. Measure on four to six different days, add all the values together, and divide by the number of measurements. This average value is more reliable than a single measurement.

Then it's even easier. Measure the inner diameter of a well-fitting ring with a ruler, or better yet, with a caliper. In our table below, you can find the corresponding circumference.

Four tips for an accurate result

Measure at noon: It is best to do so on a day that is not too warm. Fingers are often swollen in the morning, after sports, or in heat. The result will then be too large.
Choose the hand beforehand: The circumference of the right and left ring fingers almost always differs. Therefore, decide first on which hand the ring will be worn and measure that exact finger.
Pay attention to the knuckle: For many people, the knuckle is the widest point. The ring must pass over it, but it should not be too loose afterward. If in doubt, measure both points and choose a value in between.
Plan a second fitting for diamond rings: Rings with many set stones can only be changed to a limited extent later on. Therefore, we are happy to invite you to try on the ring blank before the stones are permanently set.

Width, profile, wall thickness: the fit is what counts

The number on the ring mandrel is only half the answer. How a ring really feels also depends on its shape. And a wedding ring is worn every day, for a lifetime.

Ring width

The width is purely a matter of taste. As a standard, we recommend 4 mm for women's rings and 5.5 mm for men's rings. Narrow rings appear more understated, while wide ones make a clear statement.

Because we manufacture in our own jewelry workshop, we can create any model in your desired width. You are therefore not bound to standard measurements.

Wall thickness

Wall thickness refers to the height of the ring. Those who have rarely worn rings before are best served with a lower wall thickness. The ring is less bulky and is barely noticeable after a short time.

The six profiles

The profile determines how the edge fits against your finger. We offer six variants to choose from:

Profile 1 – Ovally shaped for a soft, smooth appearance.
Profile 2 – Slightly curved on the outside with rounded corners, particularly comfortable to wear.
Profile 3 – Slightly curved on the outside with rounded outer corners for an elegant look.
Profile 4 – Strongly curved on the outside and inside with angular corners for a distinctive look.
Profile 5 – Flat on the outside, slightly curved on the inside with rounded inner corners. A balanced shape.
Profile 6 – Square with rounded sides, modern yet comfortable.

Round, soft profiles nestle against the skin. Angular ones look more distinctive and sharp. Both have their appeal. Just ensure that the edges are always slightly rounded, as this significantly increases comfort.
